"Tailored onesie" is a great way to describe it, I found all of those pantsless looks simultaneously infantile and oversexed which is never an attractive combination on a woman. I would be interested to hear if any of the other Met Gala looks stood out to you in a good way-- I'm still thinking about Monica Barbaro and Andrew Scott...

I always like looking at the Met Gala outfits. I agree with you on a different set of judgement being acceptable on this "fashion as art" context than everyday wear by real people in their real lives.

Sabrina Carpenter's top was fine, totally agree on "missing pants" not being the consistent style choice I would have gone with. Imagine if, instead of the no pants look, they gave her the skinny jeans big skirt combo of "Blackpink's Jennie" (I don't know who that person is, but she looked great!). Or even just matching pants to go with the ringleader vibe of the top.

I owned a dress in the 90s that reminds me of Lana del Rey's outfit. Actually, if you've seen Adventures in Babysitting, it's the dress she wears at the beginning, velvet black top and drop waist shiny green and black plaid skirt, I had the same dress and felt so cool!
